Goal:

The primary objective was to deliver a comprehensive training program over a two-hitch period that improved the crew’s technical proficiency in well operationsthrough realistic simulations, enhanced teamwork and communication via CRM principles, and addressed real-world challenges, such as stuck pipe scenarios,to prepare the crew for high-pressure situations.

Actions

1.       Mobile Simulator Deployment:

ADI mobilized a cutting-edge mobile simulator to the rig, allowing on-site delivery of realistic drilling scenarios.

Technical well operations drilling instructor guided crew members through simulated challenges, including stuck pipe scenarios.

2.       Crew Resource Management Integration:

CAVU deployed a dedicated CRM coach to provide hands-on training, emphasizing communication, decision-making, and teamwork under pressure.

Theory sessions and practical exercises were tailored to align CRM principles with technical training.

3.       Collaborative Delivery:

Overtwo hitches, ADI and CAVU worked closely to deliver integrated training to the entire crew, ensuring alignment with operator’s objectives.

Daily debriefs and informal discussions with the crew provided continuous feedback and allowed real-time adjustments.

4.       Challenge Mitigation:

Maintained critical learning objectives despite crew preferences for shortened sessions by adapting training delivery without compromising core content.

Results

Crew Engagement and Feedback: High levels of participation and positive feedback were received during theory sessions, with crew members recognizing the benefits of integrated training.

Enhanced Collaboration: The partnership between ADI and CAVU demonstrated the value of combining technical and interpersonal training, setting a precedent for future joint projects.

Key Capabilities

This collaboration between two RelyOn Leadership Academies, ADI and CAVU, underscores the importance of integrating technical and interpersonal training in complex well operations. The success of this project highlights the value of teamwork, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence in delivering impactful training solutions. Combining technical, human factors, and drilling simulator training is essential for creating a comprehensive and effective training program in the oil and gas industry. The blending of these different training components is a recognized best practice among high reliability organizations.
