Strong operational performance starts long before the work begins. It starts with aligned leadership, shared expectations, and a team that is prepared to communicate clearly, make sound decisions, and support one another when it matters most.

Recently, CAVU delivered a Safety Leadership Training programme for Borr Drilling in Miri, Malaysia, bringing together 70 participants from the Skald rig crew ahead of an upcoming campaign with a new operator.

Led by CAVU Coaches Devinder Singh and Nurhelmie Halim, the two-day session was designed to bring the team together, strengthen alignment, and prepare the crew for the operational expectations of the campaign ahead.

Throughout the programme, participants engaged in focused discussions and interactive activities centered on leadership expectations, HSE priorities, and Human Performance Improvement principles aligned with IOGP 810. The session also included icebreaker activities, CAVU-led team building exercises, and a Kahoot! knowledge-based challenge to reinforce key concepts in an engaging and memorable way.

For teams preparing for complex operations, alignment is critical. When crews understand expectations, build trust, and establish a shared approach to leadership and safety, they are better positioned to perform effectively under pressure. This is especially important when transitioning into a new campaign, working with a new operator, or preparing for changing operational conditions.

At CAVU, we believe safety leadership is not a one-time event. It is a continuous commitment to building stronger teams, improving communication, and creating the conditions for safe, reliable performance. Programmes like this are about more than training. They are about creating connection, strengthening team cohesion, and helping crews build the confidence to lead from wherever they sit within the operation.

We are proud to support Borr Drilling and the Skald rig crew as they prepare for their upcoming campaign, and we look forward to continuing this work through future sessions across the region, including an upcoming session tentatively scheduled for July in Vung Tau, Vietnam.

Together, we are helping teams align before operations begin, so they can perform safely and effectively when it matters most.
