CAVU International’s Sam Cowan, Safety, Leadership & Human Performance Coach, will present at the Floating Offshore Wind 2026 conference, taking place 7–8 October 2026 at P&J Live in Aberdeen.

Hosted by RenewableUK and Scottish Renewables, Floating Offshore Wind brings together leaders from across the offshore wind sector to address the opportunities and challenges shaping the industry’s continued growth.

Sam’s presentation, “Human Factors and Human Performance in Floating Offshore Wind,” will take place during the conference’s Deep Dive Sessions on Thursday, 8 October.

As floating offshore wind moves from emerging technology toward larger-scale deployment, organizations are operating in increasingly complex environments where technical capability alone is not enough. Safe, reliable and efficient operations also depend on how people communicate, make decisions, manage risk and work together, particularly when conditions change or pressure increases.

Sam’s session will explore the role Human Factors and Human Performance play in helping organizations build the leadership behaviors and team practices needed to operate effectively in these high-consequence environments.

At CAVU, we believe many operational challenges cannot be solved through procedures and technology alone. Strong performance requires organizations to understand how work actually gets done and to create systems that support people in anticipating threats, maintaining situational awareness, communicating effectively and adapting when reality does not match the plan.

These principles are especially relevant as the floating offshore wind sector grows. New technologies, evolving operating models, offshore interfaces and increasingly complex projects create a need for teams that can learn continuously and move beyond reacting to problems after they occur.

By applying proven Human Performance principles and practical leadership tools, organizations can strengthen the behaviors that support both safety and operational excellence, helping teams move from a reactive approach to a more proactive, resilient way of operating.
